About Us
Lamar
Sego was born one of six children to James Walter and Lona Erskine
Sego; both ministers of the Gospel. J.W. Sego, lovingly known to
his grandchildren as Daddy Walt and Lona, his wife as Big Ma
resided in Adel, GA until they moved to Macon in 1942.
The oldest son, James Sego and the oldest daughter, Blondine Sego
Bates, along with Lamar their younger brother started singing
together. They sang and blessed people all over South Georgia.
In the year of 1946, James, Lamar and W.R. Sego started singing
together. The name of the group was Harmony Kings. After James
Sego married Naomi Easters of Enigma, GA and they became known as
The Sego Brothers and Naomi. They traveled all over the country
and also parts of Canada. Lamar felt lead by the Lord to leave the
group in 1967.
God had other plans for him and his family. In the year of
1971; The Lamar Sego Family started singing and ministering around
the state of Georgia and then later on in the Southeast and
Northeast on into Canada. The group consist of Dad, Lamar Sego,
sons, Marly, Richard and Dennis and daughters Robin and Hettie.
After years of traveling and spreading God’s word through song and
ministry and many album recordings, the Sego Family came off the
road full time. During those years the Sego children married and
raised families. It was recently in 2004 the family went back into
the studio and recorded the CD “Hear O’ Israel”. All songs on the
CD were written by the Segos, Robin, Dennis and his wife Dina and
Hettie and husband Rick. The children feel that this CD is a great
tribute to their father Lamar who is in his 70’s but voice is as
strong as ever.
Now, approaching the year 2008, each family has a ministry and
work they are doing for the Lord. All the children now have
children of their own that are singing in church. There is
actually a fourth generation Sego who will take the platform at 3
years of age singing “Believe”. Robin and Hettie are writing
inspirational songs and their daughters are singing in church as
well. God has truly blessed us and we are so thankful for our Sego
heritage. What a faithful God we serve to continue to bless our
children and our children’s children.
